Our extremely qualified safety experts have conducted initial and follow-up assessments of safety and health management systems in place for one of the world’s largest gold and copper mining operations. Included is assessing the safety culture in place at these operations and reviews of their OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification/recertification efforts.
China
- Professional development and train-the-trainer courses for mine rescue and recovery trainers, team members and emergency coordination.
- Training provided to state and mine safety inspectors.
- Working with a Canadian exploration company, SSI assisted in the evaluation of a proposed coal-bed methane gas to liquids project in China.
Canada
- Conducted on-site OH&S assessments for a Canadian silver mining company which included recommended activities for enhancing their overall systems.
Mexico
- SSI, following a catastrophic mining accident, advised and assisted Mexico’s largest mining conglomerate with safety assessments at their other mines and mine related facilities.
- SSI conducted a review of the maturity of safety in place at a large underground ternium mine in central west Mexico. Included in the review was an evaluation of both the physical conditions and management systems in place.

- Assisted in international manufacture of electronic systems, SSI provided insight on the value and feasibility of designing and manufacturing wireless mine safety communication and miner tracking devices.
