Safety Solutions International has teamed with Northwest Barricade to provide the mining and related industries effective, safe, and environmentally benign applications for a wide range of challenging fire management situations. Because of its unique chemistry Barricade II Fire Gel can:

• Smother and extinguish extremely hot fires such as magnesium, coal, tires, etc.
• Protect structures, gas cylinders, tank cars, power poles, vehicles, mine structures including belt drives, take-ups, refuge chambers and other mine related structures and equipment (both underground and surface)
• Suppress fires using direct attack or as a retardant
• Adhere to a variety of surfaces such as coal, glass, metal, vinyl, wood
• Be applied by a variety of applications including in-place sprinkler systems, nozzles and aircraft

When the Barricade II and water mixture is sprayed onto an exposed surface, millions of tiny "bubblets" are stacked one on top of another. Each layer protects the layer beneath. Unlike AFFF or Class A foams, Barricade bubbles are water-filled.

Barricade was developed to control and extinguish fires, and to protect exposures from burning. Barricade II is a non-toxic liquid concentrate of super absorbent polymers and vegetable oil. Barricade is used in diluted form at a concentration of 0.5% to 5.0%, and when applied provides a temporary insulation protection from temperatures of several thousand degrees. Easy to clean up with water.
